Because our employer plan is self-funded, and we have no other plan options through the company, I have no coverage for even formula needed to maintain a healthy and functional life. Our family is in debt because of the out of pocket expenses…and because of cost I am only taking 2/3 of my recommended dosage. This is affecting my health and therefore my family. I have a wonderfully supportive husband, two children 12 and 7, and am blessed to be a teacher. If it continues down the same road, I am nervous of the continued effects. Our state of Oregon mandates coverage, but we need federal mandates. We have been battling this for years. We have a self-funded insurance option through my husband’s employer. Coverage is refused for even formula. No exceptions will be made for “equality” of employees.
