Our 8 yr old has been on EleCare/hypoallergenic formula since he was 9 months old. His first 3 years of life, he went from no safe other foods to 3 kinds of fruits and beets that he could eat. Slowly, we’ve been able to find new safes, since he’s been on oral steroids that he swallows daily to reduce the inflammation. He has eosinophilic esophagitis, food protein induced enterocolitis syndrome, and growth hormone deficiency, and a number of severe IgE allergies. It’s a daily struggle, and having to pay so much out-of-pocket every year for his medical nutrition makes it even a bigger struggle.
