Medical nutrition coverage would mean FREEDOM. Freedom from worry and the freedom to be able to make normal life choices such as what career to pursue and where to live without the fear of suddenly losing access to medical formula and foods. Initially, our insurance denied formula coverage. I spent a panicked month working with my employer’s HR and trying to appeal it, but nothing worked. Finally, we were able to get coverage approved with some help from a medical reimbursement specialist. Still, we have to go through the approval process annually, and I am always afraid that formula coverage will be denied someday! We have never had medical foods coverage, so those expenses are all out of pocket.

The Medical Nutrition Equity Act will provide key support for those Americans who rely on medical foods to survive and thrive.
