Legislation has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives that will require all payers — Medicaid, Medicare, Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, Children’s Health Insurance Program and private insurance — to cover medical nutrition for certain gastrointestinal conditions and metabolic disorders.
Ask your Representative to cosponsor the “Medical Nutrition Equity Act of 2019 (H.R. 2501).

For patients with diseases and disorders of the gastrointestinal system and inherited metabolic disorders, medically necessary nutrition is their prescribed treatment. Yet these patents are routinely denied coverage of medical nutrition by their health insurance plan.
